Our Fishing Future was incorporated in 2013. Our primary purpose is to promote responsible management of New Zealand’s recreational fisheries through education, awareness and engagement.
We are committed to working constructively with other sector interests to achieve our vision, and endorse collaborative approaches to achieve enduring solutions for fishing in New Zealand.
President: Geoff Rowling
Seven generations living on the same stretch of coastline has given Geoff insight to changing abundance and access to our coastal fisheries. He has spent the last 20 plus years working to ensure good public access to this most important food source. He is on leave from the Presidency of the NZ Recreational Fishing Council to devote his attention to Our Fishing Future.
Secretary: Don Boddie
Don lives on the Kapiti Coast and has been an active member of the recreational fishing community for 40 years. He has always taken a keen interest in all things to do with recreational fishing and the marine environment, and is a founding member of Our Fishing Future.
Don organised and ran the very successful Camp Hohepa fishing camps at Kapiti Island for many years, in association with Bill Hohepa. His current interests include developing a national children’s fishing education programme under the Camp Hohepa banner, focusing on the basic tenets of Our Fishing Future inc.
